This one of a kind Mamluk rug is an exquisite reproduction of the antique Mamluks which date back to the 15th century and which were woven in Egypt.
Their designs are quite complex, consisting of large medallions made up of intersecting compartments of various forms. The borders consist of oblong medallions or cartouches. This distinctive rug features a captivating mix of traditional Mamluk colors including rust, light blue and greens, with an intricate and unique broken center medallion. Mamluk carpets are distinguished not only by their distinctive designs, but also by their lustrous wool, fine weave and soft, closely valued coloration dominated by pale greens, yellows and reds.
Each unique masterpiece is hand-woven in Egypt with the highest quality wool and contains a unique array of organic and natural colors similar to the antique Mamluks.
