Description
This early twentieth century antique Turkish Sivas rug features an all over design combining earth tones, pink and pastel colors, as well as an intricate design of floral and geometric abstractions and arabesques.
The intricate design of this antique carpet is a staple of Oriental rug design and contributes to its unique look. Shapes such as the boteh, the paisley shape that represents leaves or pinecones in traditional Oriental rugs, can be seen throughout. Sivas rug weavers traditionally used a smaller assortment of color than their Persian counterparts, achieving a remarkable range with only eight or nine colors.
This particular piece is a combination of pastel colors along with bold earth tones which make this piece one of a kind.
